La Piazza Pasta Café began serving patrons by the end of November
2003. It is located at 1885 Hollywood Boulevard, in down town Hollywood.
Jorge (George) Dercauttan, who owned a textile company in Buenos
Aires, came to Florida at an early age to retired, he always complained that
the restaurants in south Florida don’t look like the ones he frequents up
north, so he decided to start a new Italian Restaurant with his friend of 40
years, Alberto who has 25 years experience in the Restaurant business. They
both together started to build "a classy place with an amazing atmosphere that
is affordable to everyone".
But they are not alone in this business; they are with their family
too. Dercauttan's daughter and nephew also work there. Tamara Dercauttan is
assistant comptroller. La Piazza's main focus is northern Italian food; new age
cuisine with a touch of tradition, which is not by chance. Is has a lot to do
with Alberto whose family has roots in Naples.
Patrons can dine in one of three sections of the 250 seat restaurant.
One area has faux leopard-skin sofas and is enhanced by the glow of candlelight
flickering atop each table, and in 2008 a new piano bar and night club was
opened, named “Sosta Lounge”
A casual dining area has brick walls and a Brick Pizza oven. The
third section offers outdoor sidewalk dining and live music at night from
Thursday to Sunday. The whole interior design is due to the creativeness of George;
including the entryway with its domed ceiling and leopard skin floor, which
matches with the owners' thought of the importance of first impressions.
So is customer service that is why they are always on the floor,
managing La Piazza and Sosta ready to take care of patrons and friends
